10 Size-Inclusive Slow Fashion Brands You Should Know About
One thing about the fashion industry is that it has been notoriously fat-phobic and exclusive of any sizes that aren’t 0-6, and sustainable fashion doesn’t have the best reputation for size inclusivity either. In fact, the reason many people still shop from fast fashion stores is because of the easy access to affordable clothing in a wide array of sizes and styles.
I believe sustainable fashion should be accessible, because sustainability and accessibility go hand in hand. Sustainability can’t be adopted by the masses if it’s only available to a small subset of the population.
There is a rising movement of brands that make their clothes custom-sized, which means that they can be made to literally fit every body. This is the most size-inclusive way of producing clothing, but it’s also a much more slow, sustainable way of making clothes since they are made to order and take up to 5 weeks to create. I love when multiple problems are tackled at once! I featured some custom-sizing brands in this post, as well as some of my other favorite brands that sustainably produce clothing for people of all shapes and sizes.
